Admissions

Senior School
Entrance to the Senior School is at the age of 11-plus.  All girls seeking admission take the school’s own entrance examination in January for entrance in September of that year. Candidates should be under the age of 12 on 1st September in the year of admission.  Girls who will be under 11 at that time are permitted to take the entrance examination only if they are recommended by the head of their junior school as being suitable, both academically and in social development, for early transfer to secondary education.  Entry to the sixth form from other schools is dependent upon an interview, a report from the applicant’s present school confirming that she is a suitable candidate for an Advanced Level course, and good GCSE results.  Occasional vacancies may occur in other years.

Lower School
Girls are admitted into the Lower School at the start of the academic year (1st September - 31st August) in which they will be five years of age. Each girl is invited for an assessment interview in the previous spring term.  Girls are interviewed to evaluate their maturity, conversational skills, dexterity, concentration and memory, and to assess their potential.

In addition, there is entry into Year 3, the start of Key Stage Two (7-8 year olds) and Year 5 (9 year olds) for which assessments also take place in the spring term.
